The Expanded Guide begins with a condensed & re-edited version of Spengler's Guide, written several years prior. This contains broad knowledge of the 23 monster types at the time, and largely features the information covered in Ryslig's bestiary.
The new content in the Guide consists entirely of individual monster testomonials.
Submissions to the Guide can be made by anyone at any time, in a drop-off box at the Insert Coin arcade. The form below can be used as a template for any monsters looking for inspiration or structure for their entries. Nanami copies out the entries longhand, and stores the information in several locations, so that the information is never lost.
A copy of the current manuscript may be requested for casual perusal at any time.

Date: 2022-11-11 08:43 am (UTC)When reading the older guides, please take note: Nephilim is plural and therefore, "a nephilim" is incorrect. The singular form of nephilim is best written as naphil. Nephil is also acceptable if one prefers. If you dig down into the linguistic history deep enough, you'll find that nephilim isn't accurate either because of how it was written in Hebrew, which is נְפִילִים. More accurate would be n'philim/n'phil, since the 'eh' isn't fully articulated, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who would write it like that. "Naphil" is a romanized word often found to describe giants, and most agree that the nephilim described in the Hebrew bible are actually the same species. Therefore, naphil is the top option.
What do you like about being this monster?
The power of flight!
What do you dislike about being this monster?
The inability to sleep. You won't realize how many hours go into a day until you have to be awake through all 24 of them. Couple that with going incorporeal in darkness, and you've got a lot of dull nights ahead of you. The lighting out in the streets isn't anything to write home about.
What is something unique to you about being this monster?
[This one is left unanswered. He meant to get back to it later and just... didn't.]
What types of creatures or beings influenced your monster form?
Lion for the tail. My wings rather look like those used in depictions of Horus, a god of Ancient Egypt, when he's taking his falcon form.
What is it like to feed as this monster?
Horrific. I'm basically shoving someone's soul straight out of their body and I don't like it.
What are some notable physical features you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I've got the wings, the tail, the halo and extra eyes on my temples. The eyes are the worst. I had some pretty bad vertigo the first week. And my eyes (all four of them) glow sometimes, which is not a problem for me, but does make it difficult for others to look my way when it happens. Also, people keep telling me I smell nice?
What are some notable psychological changes you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I get a bit more riled up sometimes when I hear about injustice.
Would you become this monster for good?
I'm not changing it to anything else, that's for sure.

What do you dislike about being this monster?
The inability to sleep is a little inconvenient. Even back at home, I was able to make myself sleep if I decided I wanted to. Here, I found myself on more than one occasion wishing that I could.
What is something unique to you about being this monster?
My halo, I suppose? It was a ring made of a music staff, and notes would appear on it as it spun slowly around. It also seemed to change colors with my mood.
What types of creatures or beings influenced your monster form?
I'm not certain on the horns exactly, but my tail seemed a bit lion-like. As for my wings, two pairs were simple, stereotypical angelic wings, but the pair between those two was black and Reaper-like.
What is it like to feed as this monster?
Feeding is... unenjoyable. I do not feel comfortable removing a soul from the cycle of death and rebirth, even though I've been told by the resident gods that there is no such thing as an afterlife here. When I change to this form permanently, I will likely seek an alternate means of feeding.
What are some notable physical features you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I gained a bit of height, which also included my shoulders broadening a bit, but that's to be expected when your body needs to be built to accommodate two or more wings. I recall there was a soft glow from my skin and my eyes, and numerous others reported a pleasant smell, though I was unable to smell anything myself. Physically, the features I had suited me just fine. The only complaint that I have is that my horns did not mesh well with the horns of one of my fiances, and we found ourselves stuck together at one point. When I change to this form permanently, I will be requesting a different style of horns.
What are some notable psychological changes you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
The fury that this form experiences is a bit more... intense than what I am used to. It comes on strong, fast, and hot, and is not like my own sense, so it took some getting used to and got me in trouble a time or two. With more experience, I'm certain I can adjust to it, but it is the only thing that makes me unable to recommend this type. Most people will not have an easy time adjusting to this particular change.
Would you become this monster again?
Yes.
Would you become this monster for good?
I plan to, as soon as I'm able.
