The Expanded Guide is edited by Chiaki Nanami.

The Expanded Guide begins with a condensed & re-edited version of Spengler's Guide, written several years prior. This contains broad knowledge of the 23 monster types at the time, and largely features the information covered in Ryslig's bestiary.

The new content in the Guide consists entirely of individual monster testomonials.

Submissions to the Guide can be made by anyone at any time, in a drop-off box at the Insert Coin arcade. The form below can be used as a template for any monsters looking for inspiration or structure for their entries. Nanami copies out the entries longhand, and stores the information in several locations, so that the information is never lost.

A copy of the current manuscript may be requested for casual perusal at any time.

As of now, the Expanded Guide has not yet been officially published on the peninsula.

What do you like about being this monster?
It's nice not caring about the cold? I'm from somewhere pretty warm so I bet winter in Ryslig would be way worse for me if I could feel it.

What do you dislike about being this monster?
Can't wear shoes, need to spend a lot of money on snacks.

What is something unique to you about being this monster?
I don't know? I'm pink. This might be a general monster thing that's just really rare, but I don't get hungry for people!

What types of creatures or beings influenced your monster form?
A deer, but pink. Zombies maybe?

What is it like to feed as this monster?
N/A

What are some notable physical features you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
- Antlers: they're kind of small, but I guess that means they don't get in the way as much as they could.
- Hooves: kind of hard to walk on at first, but now I'm used to it.
- Fangs: one of those things that are more "zombie" than "deer," I think.

What are some notable psychological changes you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I don't know I eat a lot because I'm always hungry, does that count? It's kind of annoying. I don't think there's anything else.

Would you become this monster again?
I just did!

Would you become this monster for good?
Depends on the other options, I guess.

What do you like about being this monster?
[This section left conspicuously blank. He has answers, but none of them are things he wishes to share in a public survey.]

What do you dislike about being this monster?
Being "undead" was unnerving. Not needing to breathe is one thing, but truly being aware that your lungs aren't moving and your heart isn't beating is another matter entirely. I would occasionally find myself gasping for air I didn't need in a panic, the desperate base instinct to live and to thrive fully distracting me from the fact that my body was little more than a corpse. The pallor and the gauntness of my body made looking in mirrors difficult. When I transformed, the scars I bore on my body tore open anew, muscle and bone and necrotic flesh exposed to the world. My movements were stiff, as though caught in perpetual rigor mortis. The hunger was incessant.

What is something unique to you about being this monster?
The waldgeist I am most familiar with is far less corpselike than I was. His skin maintains some appearance of life; his movements are as fluid as ever.

What types of creatures or beings influenced your monster form?
A simple deer, though my tail was far longer than that of any deer I've ever seen. Also: fairly typical zombies.

What is it like to feed as this monster?
Feeding was acceptable. My fangs and claws were sharp enough to tear through my food with ease. Having said that, I felt entirely hollow no matter how much I ate. Of the few monsters I've been, the waldgeist's hunger is the absolute worst. Normally I can survive on six weeks between feedings; as a waldgeist, I could barely last more than a few hours without eating something. The fridge was decimated within a day. The risk of biting someone I had no intentions of eating was dangerously high. I found myself gnawing on my own hands to stave off starvation. I attacked people indiscriminately and with little awareness I was moving my own limbs. I would find myself snapping back to consciousness with half-eaten vermin in my mouth, and I would feel compelled to finish eating it regardless of what it may carry or where it may have crawled from.

What are some notable physical features you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
Large, pointed antlers can be useful in a fight, but limit your clothing options. Hooves are immensely difficult to walk on; the stiffness of my legs made it so much worse.

What are some notable psychological changes you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
The established hunger. There were no upsides to it. I did many things I would never have done in my right mind.

Would you become this monster again?
I did not ask to be this monster in the first place. Mana misconstrued my intentions entirely.

Would you become this monster for good?
Absolutely not.
