The Expanded Guide begins with a condensed & re-edited version of Spengler's Guide, written several years prior. This contains broad knowledge of the 23 monster types at the time, and largely features the information covered in Ryslig's bestiary.
The new content in the Guide consists entirely of individual monster testomonials.
Submissions to the Guide can be made by anyone at any time, in a drop-off box at the Insert Coin arcade. The form below can be used as a template for any monsters looking for inspiration or structure for their entries. Nanami copies out the entries longhand, and stores the information in several locations, so that the information is never lost.
A copy of the current manuscript may be requested for casual perusal at any time.
As of now, the Expanded Guide has not yet been officially published on the peninsula.

Date: 2023-11-15 11:17 am (UTC)I was only a Shade for about a week, during a time when most monsters fell under some sort of Shade spell, but I expect the experience still counts, so:
What do you like about being this monster?
I don't think there was anything about it that I liked, sorry. Best I could say about it was that I kept short-circuiting lights in my near vicinity, so I was never in danger of being exposed to electrical lights. Or even battery-powered ones. It caused trouble for other people though, so I can't say I liked that aspect of it. But possessing another person's body (with consent!!!) was sort of nice in a weird way, so maybe that?
What do you dislike about being this monster?
Not having a physical body can be bloody terrifying. It felt like I could disappear at any second, and like I wasn't a real part of the world. I didn't like it one bit.
What is something unique to you about being this monster?
I still had the wings and tail that I usually have when I'm a Naphil. The shapes of them, anyway, they weren't physical. I couldn't tell you if I didn't change all the way, or if my mind just subconsciously kept them, since Shades can look however they want.
What types of creatures or beings influenced your monster form?
Just Naphil.
What is it like to feed as this monster?
I don't remember.
What are some notable physical features you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I suppose I was just a literal shadow of my usual self, but with glowing white eyes. And I could blend into shadows completely, so there weren't any physical features at all at that point. Just maybe my glowing eyes in the darkness?
What are some notable mental changes you have as this monster, and what do you like or dislike about them?
I don't remember anything specific.
